Candela Wax summer edition is here, with Colombian vinyl selector
Moralito and Movimientos’ Cal Jader back together for a night of vinyl
joy, with the best of Afro-Latin danceable sounds.

Joining them is special guest Backyardmango on his London debut, serving
up a cumbia-deep night, all vinyl, with a genre-bending set digging into
Latin funk, Mexican disco, psychedelic tracks, and rare global edits,
while moving through cumbia sonidera, rebajada and futurista.

***

Moralito’s sound ranges from salsa to cumbia, weaving through funk,
disco, and jazz. His affair with Latin and Afro rhythms is in full
display as a regular performer in London, from Space Talk to the Fox &
Firkin, as the co-founder of the Latin underground party Clandestina,
and as a host on the show Alma on Portobello Radio.

Cal Jader’s distinctive mix of Latin, Tropical and global sounds
relishes in Salsa, Cumbia,  Merengue, Afro-Caribbean beats, Brazilian
grooves, and dancehall. He has almost half a million plays over his two
vinyl sets for My Analog Journal and hosts a monthly show on Soho Radio.

Adding the special sauce to the night is Backyardmango.
A Portland, Oregon-based vinyl selector and DJ, his signature
intergenerational sets blend cultural tradition with modern energy.  As
a first-generation Mexican-American with family roots stretching to
Jalisco and Michoacán, his identity heavily informs a distinct musical
style. He has spent over a decade shaping the Pacific Northwest music
scene across key venues and parties in the US and Mexico.
