Raw Odoni are a modern jazz quartet, newly formed and writing their own material. Influences range from the Spiritual and post-bop jazz of Coltrane, Monk and Miles but also everything from John Cage to The Necks via Fela Kuti and Gong. They pride themselves on breaking the jazz rule book using overlapping solos, group improvisation and spoken word to create sparse atmospherics, crashing catharsis and shifting grooves that go somewhere different every night. Their debut EP, ‘Ostara’ has been featured on JazzFm by Jez Nelson, Chris Philips and Ruth Fisher as well as on Tony Poole’s podcast, ‘They call it Jazz’ and the ‘Jazz First’ Top Ten.
